My 14th CD Delivers Soon!

Dearest Friends & Supporters,

The For the Love of Western Swing artwork took a little longer than I had expected but oh was it worth it. Rod McGehee delivered an amazing work of art for the cover. Jason Landry's silhouette photo was superimposed over the painting and voilà! The discs should be delivered by the end of the month so I'll get them out to all of you supporters as soon as I get them.

Meanwhile, the official world radio release will occur this Saturday on Lubbock's (Slaton) KSSL FM, 107.3 & 94.1 for you folks in West Texas and the Panhandle, ksslfm.com online. Billy Bowles Swinging Country will share six of my original songs from the album on his program. It just felt like the perfect place to share the new recording as Bowles shares my passion for not only Western Swing, but for original music. He'll play "Cherry Springs Swing," "Canta Papa," "Old Songs," "You Bring Out the Best in Me," "Part of the Solution," and the title track, "For the Love of Western Swing" from the album.

I'll keep you posted on the CD release celebrations as we schedule them but I can tell you that we've booked one at legendary Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas on Sunday, 1-5 p.m., Sept. 29, 2019 and one in my hometown at the Marble Falls Music Festival, Sept. 21st with Kyle Park, Shiny Ribs, Pauline Reese and Brandon Alan. Sept. 20th will be the songwriter showcase featuring Alex Harvey ("Delta Dawn", "Reuben James," "Hell or High Water," etc.). Southwest Airlines has great rates to Austin and San Antonio now if you want to join us. Let me know!

You may recall that indie film maker, John Dyer, used my music exclusively for the soundtrack of his movie, I Miss You Already. I can share it with you now that it's been aired on Shorts.TV. You'll hear several of my more traditional works in the short film, including "From a Table Made for Two," and "San Antonio Woman," both co-written with Kent Finlay. Dyer also used "Kiss and Makeup (For Lost Time)," which I co-wrote with Jerry Harkins, Mike Siler, and Jerry Harkins, "Tennessee Left Texas," co-written with Rick Bussey and "Loneliest Star in Texas," another Blakely & Martinez co-write. For those of you who've followed my career over the years you'll notice a cameo appearance by Donnie Price, my former bass player and co-founder of the original version of my band Tejas.

You'll be pleased to know my web store, is open for business and some of the titles that have been unavailable have been restocked including You Play My Heart and Stand Your Ground.

Finally, we've booked several festivals in Switzerland, Austria & Spain in late May and early June of 2020. I'll give you the full schedule as soon as all the shows are confirmed. Wouldn't it be cool to see you in Europe! I'm grateful to all of you who do the shows, support my album projects, share my posts and who hire me to do what I love.

Vaya con Dios,

john Arthur martinez
